Boom, Doom, and Gloom
He has earned the moniker “Dr. Doom”, and in keeping with the premise of that nickname Swiss money manager Mark Faber believes that war between Israel and Iran is inevitable.
“I happen to think the Middle East will go up in flames,” Faber has said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not turn away from the increasing likelihood that he will use his military to attack Iranian nuclear installations. Brent Crude traded at nearly $123.00 a barrel on Tuesday 03/06/12, over fears of a disruption in supply from Iran.
Faber recommends investing in precious metals and equities as they could survive the mounting crisis.
When the Middle East goes boom as predicted by Dr. Doom, it will be difficult not be overcome with feelings of gloom. But, we don’t need a diagnosis from the doctor to know that an already malignant world situation is becoming terminal.
Ultimately, the precious metals and equities of this world are not going to heal and save us. Those who have made those investments may be carried through an initial collapse of the Dollar and the Euro, but as conditions deteriorate it could come down to the non-perishable food, clothing, medicine, guns and ammunition that we have stored in our pantries and basements. The Doomsday Preppers have utilized an effective investment plan.
After all is said and done, worldly gold and silver are of temporary value. It is best to build an investment in eternal security. We need to stock our storehouses for hardship in these trying times while not knowing how long we have, but that is only part of the investment portfolio.
The Apostle Paul has offered the most solid investment advice. It has worked for 2000 years but seems exceedingly applicable today as economies crumble in the growing storm and the world seems perched on the precipice of great war and upheaval.
From the Bible in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 :
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
